First Event With Sisters-on-the-Fly; Fun Time, Great Gals, Cool Rigs

Hello Friends!

    The sisters are stylish!

This post is going under the Girl Power category on my blog because Sisters-on-the-Fly is the ultimate when it comes to girl power!  When I found out about this group I knew I had to join.  These ladies have got it going on when it comes to fun and adventure!

                       Love it!

Sisters-on-the-Fly

Sisters-on-the Fly (SOTF) is the largest outdoor all women’s group in the U.S. who get together all across the nation for fishing, camping, kayaking, and many other activities.  It is a comradery; a sisterhood of

females who have the same interests, enjoy getting to know each other and forming friendships.

Lots of friendships are made at SOTF events

There is just one rule:  “No men, no kids, be nice and have fun!”

I learned about this organization while at a camper college event at Setzer’s World of Camping in Huntington, WV. One of the ladies there was a member and said that you could attend one event free before joining to see if you liked it.  This ‘trial run’ is called Sister-on-the-Try or SOTT, which I found hilarious since wine and cocktails seems to be a common denominator in these outings as well as mine.

      SOTF Chapter–Horsin’ Round the Bluegrass

Though you can attend any SOTF event anywhere, there are regional groups who get together so that it’s closer and more convenient for members.  This is what I did earlier this year at Whispering Hills Campground in Georgetown, KY with the with ‘Horsin’ Round the Bluegrass’ chapter.   I attended my first SOTF event as a SOTT and by the end of the outing, I was hooked, asking “Where do I sign up?” and… “Where is my rig?” (Just kidding!)

Melting Pot and Pot Luck

A potluck dinner is always held at least one night of a                            SOTF campout

What a great group of gals!  We had a blast! At least one evening of a SOTF event, there is a pot luck dinner.  My contribution was buffalo chicken dip and margaritas–they loved this SOTT! There were women of all ages, backgrounds, and statuses–single, married, divorced, widowed; all coming together for an awesome weekend of fun, food and friendship; a melting pot of like minded ladies.

            A fine dinner indeed!

Had a blast at my first Sisters-on-the-Fly event!

I immediately felt like I was part of the group. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.

The Sisters attended sporting all kinds of rigs.  Although you don’t have to own a vintage camper to join, a lot of members do, and they become the attraction of the campground. Part of the fun is touring all the cool campers and getting ideas you can use in your own.

At this time, I was still “vamping” in my van camper which I love, but was considering getting a travel trailer of some kind.  This SOTF trip got me to thinking about a vintage camper. I’ve always been drawn to anything old and original (which could explain my attraction to older men!) Take a look at these pics and you’ll see what I mean! (the campers that is).

Etta Mae II and me joined right in there. I didn’t have the awning out, so just hung up the                                                           lights on the side.

Show your Girl Power and join Sisters-on-the-Fly. http://www.sistersonthefly.com I am now official–Sister #10,095!

Until next time…don’t wait to LIVE!

See ya down the road…
