Tips To Keep You Safe

Ten Top Safety Tips

Here’s ten safety tips that are super important when you are on the road:

1.  When fueling up, always stand with your back against the vehicle. Never have your back turned where you can’t see who or what is behind you.

2.  Purchase an RFID wallet so your credit card and passport info cannot be scanned.  RFID  stands for Radio Frequency IDentification. Modern day pickpockets now use high tech scanners that can detect and record your information up to 30 feet away. The RFID wallets and bags blocks these devices. You can find RFID wallets for men and women at http://www.mydamselpro.net/catrinavargo.

3.  Arm yourself and your rig with more than one weapon.  I encourage everyone to get their conceal/carry gun permit.  However, if you are not comfortable carrying a gun, other options are available such as stun guns/tasers, pepper spray, striking tools, personal alarms, etc.  Have more than one method to deter a potential assailant.  Check out all the great self-defense and security products available at http://www.mydamselpro.net/catrinavargo

4.  Never carry all of your cash and credit cards in one place. Have 2-3 places to keep money or cards so that if you are robbed you will have a backup stash.

5. Watch where you put your credit card/wallet when pumping gas.  Don’t lay your card or wallet in the seat with the door open. When pumping gas, always shut the door.

6.  Always lock your vehicle–even if you are just running into a store for a drink or to pay for gas.

7.  Keep a personal alarm on yourself.

8.  Join a roadside assistance club such as AAA or Good Sam.  If you use it one time it will pay for itself.  I have been an AAA member for years and would not travel without it. It has saved me many times. Plus, they offer great discounts!

9.  Always let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back. If something should happen, at least someone will know what direction to look for you.

10. Never volunteer information.  Never say “I’m just passing through.” Act like you are traveling with someone or you are meeting friends or family.

Stay safe out there!
