What Are The Benefits?

You may be wondering how this program benefits the participating businesses.  Well, it costs them nothing to join, but it helps draw people in to their establishments.  Of course the customer is going to buy a souvenir, a bottle of wine, eat a meal, buy a gift, ticket, etc. (it is considerate to make a purchase of at least $20 at the business you are staying at). This benefits the businesses economically and it benefits the traveler by providing them with a free place to stay overnight.

Now keep in mind, these are NOT campgrounds.  Most of the time there are no services so your rig will need to be completely self-contained; meaning you must have water and waste capabilities.  Always call ahead so the business knows what size space you will need.  These are 1-night at a time overnight stays–unless other arrangements are made with the business.  Also if you camp in a van, be sure and check with them first.  It’s all about self-containment.  If your van is self-contained you should be fine, but make sure you ask ahead of time.
