Gal-Gone-Camping

2020 Seminars, Workshops, Fellowship & Downright Fun Events!

Hello Friends!

I am a little late getting the 2020 dates posted for these events–I apologize.  These are events I am familiar with, have connections to, or have learned about and want to share with you….

Womens Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (WRTR)–Jan. 14-17, 2020; Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) Jan. 18-27, 2020, Parker, AZ (La Paz County Fairground)

The mother of ALL mobile living lifestyle rallies is going on now!  Located at the La Paz County Fairground between Parker and Quartzite, AZ, this is the 10th year anniversary of the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) and Women’s Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (WRTR).

The RTR was founded by nomad and long time van dweller, Bob Wells, who is also the creator of Cheap RV Living–the blog http://www.cheaprvliving.com and YouTube channel.  He is the author of ‘How to Live in a Car, Van or RV,’ (available on Amazon), and serves as the President of Homes on Wheels Alliance (HOWA), a non-profit organization which provides assistance for the nomadic community. http://www.homesonwheelsalliance.org

There is a Pre-Event on Jan. 13th. The WRTR takes place Jan. 14-17, and the general RTR runs from Jan. 18-27. Complete information can be found at http://www.homesonwheelsalliance.org/2020rtrs

I have been following this event for some time and was all set to go this year!  I couldn’t take enough time off work to drive to AZ and back AND attend a few days of the seminars too, so my plan was to fly out and rent a mini-van similar to mine that I sometimes use as a micro-camper. I was going to check a big bag with all my gear and a small one for clothing.  I would drive to the fairgrounds and meet up with some folks to camp with (plus do a lot of solo exploring), then fly back home.  Great plan right?

It was, except an unexpected family medical issue came up that I had to tend to–the day my flight was to leave.  It’s just as well because I ended up getting sick, so guess it wasn’t meant to be this year…which is ok–you just gotta roll with the flow.  I did however, purchase travel insurance with my flight, so am in the claims process now.  Hopefully I will get reimbursed.  This is the first time I have ever purchased travel insurance, so I will let you know how that turns out.  What kind of experience have you all had with travel insurance?  Comment below–I would like to hear from you.  I really needed a few more items for this trip anyway, so I’m starting now planning for next year!!!
