A Few of My Favorite Things!
Well, Christmas is upon us! Can you believe it? There’s just a few more shopping days left for you gift-givers out there, and if you’re still trying to come up with some ideas, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite things with you. A couple of these are specifically related to travel and camping, but some are items anyone could use.
Guess I should’ve come up with 12 for the Twelve Days of Christmas, but these are just 8 right off the top of my head–and because I simply didn’t have time to write about more. 3–Stars & Sound Battery Clock by Sharper Image–OK, so what if it might look like a kid’s product, who cares?! I’m still a kid at heart and I LOVE this clock. Easy to set, several sounds to fall asleep by if you want, and the star projector is magical! Got mine from Dollar General! Also available online at Kohls and eBay.

5–Coleman 2-Person Pop-Up Tent–I cannot say enough about this tent! LOVE it! Sets up in seconds, take down in a few more seconds. Too large for backpacking, but great for everything else. Available at Amazon
6–Collapsible Buckets–So simple but so useful! These space savers are ideal when camping, traveling, or to use just around the house. Many uses for these lightweight containers. Got mine at Amazon. Different sizes to choose from.
7–Halo Bolt Power Bank/Battery Charger–If you’ve been following along on the Gal Gone Camping YouTube channel or Facebook page, you may have seen me demonstrate this awesome product. My “Special” Hot Chocolate Recipe
Get in the “spirit” with my “special” hot chocolate! This awesome winter time drink will warm you up in a hurry on the coldest of cold days. Ingredients:
- Good quality hot chocolate mix–I use Nestle
- Boiling hot water
- Buttershots Butterscotch Schnapps
- Mini-marshmallows and/or whipped cream–I use both if I have em, but prefer whipped cream
- Cinnamon
- Cinnamon stick (optional)
Mix hot chocolate with boiling water as usual–but use extra scoops to make more chocolatety (is that a word?) Add Buttershots butterscotch schnapps–to taste–your preference. The more the better for me! Top with a couple big dollops of whipped cream, sprinkle with cinnamon and add cinnamon stick for garnish and as a stir stick. ENJOY!
