I Hate Winter!
Have I mentioned that I HATE winter?! When my full time gypsy life begins, I swear I will NEVER set foot where it is cold ever again! As beautiful as the snow and ice can be, it’s much more of a problem than a pleasure–for me anyway. My body does not tolerate cold weather. It makes my head hurt, depresses me, and I just about freeze to death! I am glad to see January nearly gone.
Beautiful, but winter is not for me!
RTR Canceled, Virtual Version Going On Now!
Sadly, the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR), was canceled this year due to COVID. The event organizers felt it was best to be on the safe side, and I totally respect them for that. On a happy note, all is not lost, as they decided to go the virtual route this year. Although it won’t be the same as being there in person in the warmth of the beautiful, sunny, southwest desert of Arizona, it is still a great opportunity to get some free education.
For those of you not familiar with the RTR, it is a huge rally in the Quartzite area of AZ, where those interested in the nomadic/gypsy lifestyle, RVing, van dwelling, off-grid ideas, and anything to do with mobile living, get together to commune. Classes are taught by experts in the field who give presentations and demonstrations, sharing their knowledge and experience. The attendees camp in the surrounding area, meeting people and making new friends.
This gal will get out there next year for sure!

I have been trying to get out to AZ for the RTR for the last 3 years! I planned to go last year, even had flight and rental van booked, then something unexpected came up that could not be changed and I didn’t get to go. So I said “next year for sure!”…then COVID hit and it was canceled for 2021. Hopefully next year it will be a live event again. The Quartzite RV Show aka ‘The Big Tent,’ is going on there now–Jan. 16-24. I’m dying to go to that too; thought about heading that way, but just couldn’t make it work out. FREE–Don’t Miss It!
The 2021 virtual RTR classes are being held Jan. 14-20, with the 19th and 20th being for women only. It’s FREE and no registration is required. You can join the classes on the live feed and ask questions in the chat, or you can watch the recorded video of each class at your convenience. All live classes are on Mountain Standard Time (MST). A schedule of classes on various topics are listed on the Homes on Wheels Alliance website at the above link.
