Hello Gal Pals!
It’s been a while! Once again, I have fallen behind on my blog posts….but the good news is I’ve been busy with new adventures, working on new projects, and developing new ideas; all of which I hope you will enjoy. I just got back from Gal Gone Camping’s first official caravan trip! Even though it was just two vehicles long….it’s a start! Watch for that YouTube video coming soon!
While backtracking to see where I needed to pick up from the last post, I discovered some video footage that has not been published! I’ll get those together as soon as possible.
So, I’ll jump to some more good news…the Gal Gone Camping YouTube channel now has over 1,000 SUBSCRIBERS! I want to say a big THANK YOU to all those who have tuned in, liked, shared, commented and subscribed! I appreciate that so very much, as well as everyone who has subscribed to this website and followed along on the Facebook page. Y’all sure showed this Gal some love and I love you back!
One of my YouTube videos that viewers seemed to like best was the one where I did a tour of the Mini-Ett, my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan that I converted into a micro-camper. Although I have more plans, it works really well for me at this point. However, I did tweak my bed a little recently and just slept on it during this caravan trip. It was the best sleep I’ve gotten since working with this van! See video here: https://youtu.be/nQj3glPr6E4
I’ve been van-camping (vamping as I call it) since 2008, starting with a 1989 GMC Vandura, (Etta May), then a 1992 Ford Econo-Line E-150 (Etta May II)…both were raised roofs. I wanted to step up to a camper or travel trailer; and was fortunate enough to find a little vintage beauty…a 1974 Bonanza Pinto (Little Ett), that I loved and decorated to the hilt! As much as I loved her, it was just too much work for me. I discovered that I do not want to pull anything, so I sold it and began converting the minivan. It has been the best decision for me as a solo traveler.
Not sure what rig I’ll have next, but for now I am extremely happy with this set-up. All of these rigs can be seen throughout the blog on this site and the YouTube channel, except for the ’89 GMC…that was before I started the Gal Gone Camping project, but there may be a few pics of it somewhere on the Facebook page. By the way, if you haven’t read the ‘About’ Page, Etta May was my grandmother. My family used to call me “Little Ett” because I was so much like her.
I did get around to testing an idea I had been wanting to try for some time…my version of a hot shower, using a bucket and three super cool items that made it all work! It turned out great! Another thing about this lifestyle is using your creativity to come up with unique ideas. It’s really a lot of fun! See video here: https://youtu.be/doYq3UbjsyE
I’m not sure if I mentioned it on here yet or not, but I became an affiliate with Rock Pot USA, a company out of Utah that manufactures a top-notch piece of cookware that uses no electric, propane, butane, or gas of any kind! Instead, it uses a hot stone within a very durable, insulated, sealed stainless steel pot! An ancient method of cooking modernized! I’ve done one video on it, but plan to do another soon.

I absolutely love it! Great for camping, tailgating, family picnics, and off-grid living. It’s extremely well made and has a limited lifetime warranty.
Well, that’s all for now. Trying to keep these posts shorter so I can be more consistent in getting them out there. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks again for your support of this little project of mine. It means so very much to me.
Until next time, remember..,Don’t Wait to Live!
See Ya Down the Road!
